EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE LETTER
January 1979

To: General Councilors, Society Presidents, and Field Representatives

Henry Begemann reports that he and Bauk visited our London study group. They usually have six or seven in attendance and Henry believes that they are a group which will endure.

The Fourth Florida Conference will be held in Bradenton on March 16-18. The Pacific Northwest Gathering of Students of The Urantia Book will take place on July 28-30 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

The Ad Hoc Committee studying alternatives to leadership problems delineated by the-General Council advised against any constitutional changes. They recommended an educational program designed to make us conscious of qualities desirable in General Councilors and other leaders. Their report was informally accepted by the Executive Committee.

Mary Lou Hales reported on the trip which she and Bill made around the world. They had fascinating experiences calling on readers of The Urantia Book and attending some study groups. They found these people delightful and most of them were anxious to talk with people who were acquainted with The Urantia Book. They contacted readers in the Fiji Islands, New Zealand, Australia, Reunion Island (near Madagascar), and had a very nice visit with Mario Harrington and his wife in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

We should like to remind you again that the Triennial Delegate Assembly will be held here at headquarters on August 17-18, 1979. The Program Committee for the Assembly will be John Hales, Chairman, Marian Rowley, and Bernard Burton. Marian will be sending societies specific notices in the near future.

At the current cost of $10.00 for Brotherhood membership pins, we are losing several dollars on each pin. We are therefore raising the price of Brotherhood pins to $15.00.

Douglas and Lissa Parker of Corvallis, Oregon, were elected as members-at-large.

Being time-space personalities we are quite conscious of the passage of time and celebrate the coming of each new year. "There is a direct relationship between maturity and the unit of time consciousness in any given intellect ... Experience, wisdom, and judgment are the concomitants of the lengthening of the time unit in mortal experience." (p.1295) We also know that spiritual progress is dependent on mental expansion. (p.739)

Let us hope that our time span awareness increases this year and that we have the kind of mental insight to know the Father's will in this moment of history and the courage to follow this guidance. We send you our warm best wishes for 1979.

Cordially,

MJS/MTR Meredith J. Sprunger, President
